When you first contact us, it is likely that you will have a great many questions, concerns and perhaps anxieties about your hair loss and about the potential restoration procedures.
The truth is that hair restoration is a journey, and getting off to the right start is extremely important. During a face-to-face medical consultation with Dr Ball at our Hampshire coast clinic, we will listen to you and take the time to understand your particular situation and your goals.
If you decide to undertake a treatment with The Maitland Clinic, you are a medical patient under the care of Dr Ball and our nurse, Karen Cobb, not merely a paying customer.
Before recommending any particular course of treatment, Dr Ball and our nurse will fully assess your medical history and your physical and psychological health and wellbeing. You can enter our clinic safe in the knowledge that you are receiving not just the best possible hair restoration treatment, but the best possible medical care.
During your medical consultation with Dr Ball, we’ll give you clear guidance on all of the options available to you, the pros and cons of each and the costs involved. We’ll also give you full information about the kind of result you can realistically expect to achieve.
We encourage you to take time to consider the information discussed during your consultation and to explore all options available to you. Following your consultation, a minimum “cooling off” period of 2 weeks is required before undergoing surgery.
If you are interested in exploring non-surgical hair loss treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), we arrange a thorough medical assessment and trichoscopic examination of your scalp by our specialist nurse, Karen Cobb RGN. This will provide you with a diagnosis for your hair loss condition and allow us to monitor your response to treatment.
Before proceeding with hair restoration surgery or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment, we will complete your medical assessment with a psychological questionnaire. This enables Dr Ball to ensure that a proposed treatment is appropriate for you as an individual and allows us to review the impact of the medical or surgical treatment on your psychological wellbeing.
For a detailed explanation of the consultation process at The Maitland Clinic, please see our blog on what to expect at a consultation.
Not everyone is a candidate for hair transplant surgery. You can learn more in our blog about who is a candidate for a hair transplant and what factors and medical conditions might exclude someone from undergoing hair transplant surgery.
