"I felt in expert hands throughout"
I’d spent a long time looking into the options available to me as someone who was concerned about my receding hairline. When I made the decision to go ahead with a hair transplant I met with a number of surgeons as I wanted to do my research and feel confident that the end result would be what I wanted.
I met with Dr Ball and David twice, and it was pretty clear that they were going to do a really great job. They didn’t tell me what they thought I wanted to hear in order to secure my business, and it felt much more consultative than other practices. Everything was about achieving a result that would look great, but that would also look natural. In a nutshell, having a hair transplant that doesn’t look like you’ve had a hair transplant.
The day itself was a long one, but very comfortable and everything about Dr Ball and the team was totally professional and I felt in expert hands throughout.
My biggest concern in the build up to my operation was actually the period afterwards when I was still healing and waiting for the hairs to come through. I am in a client facing role in my job and this was something that was on my mind. I had the operation on a Friday and worked from home the next week. After that I was back in the office and my hair looked immaculate, I had told my colleagues what I was doing but if I hadn’t, they would have just thought I’d decided to shave my head as other than some very mild res dots it was completely untraceable. I was getting compliments on the results everyday as people could see my new hairline and were amazed at how smooth it had been.
The months following were a cycle of the implanted hairs growing out before the new permanent hairs then grew back through and thickened up. I think I was quite lucky as I barely noticed the new air coming through to be thinner than the rest of my hair and as time went on it seamlessly blended into my natural hair.
I always had plenty of hair but it was the shape of my hairline that bothered me after it started to recede. I used to spend a lot of time styling my hair in a way that made it look fuller and straighter at the front, and I just generally had a complex about it. I am currently 9 months post operation and can honestly say that I never think about my hairline at all now.
As long as people have done their research and really thought about it / spoken to the relevant people, I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending hair transplant surgery and I can personally recommend Dr Ball and his team very highly. There are certainly cheaper options than The Maitland Clinic, but I consider the work they do and the responsible approach they take to the work and their clients, to represent absolute value for money.
