"Trans woman’s experience"
As seen on TrustPilot:
I had an FUT procedure at the Maitland Clinic 6 months ago. The grafts were placed on my temples and the sides of my face with the intention of creating a more feminine hairline.
The day itself was relaxed and comfortable enough. I watched TV or listened to music as everyone else got busy. It was fascinating to observe the workflow at times also; very much a team effort. Everyone was lovely. There were snacks.
I've been very pleased with the results of my procedure almost since the stitches came out. Even when the hairs were very short, they still managed to correct my hairline at a casual glance. Now they are a few inches long and look like they've always been there. It's been a game-changer. I've been tying my hair back a lot since the operation which I never did before because it showed off my temples too much. I have options now! I've also had some good compliments.
My hairdresser has been a keen observer throughout. He tells me the donnor scar is minimal (he said he only noticed because the hair around it was shorter) and is also very impressed with the results. Next time I see him, we're going to see about starting to blend the new hairs in a bit, now that they are getting longer.
I think it is fair to say that my quality of life has improved as a result of this experience. I am so very grateful to the Maitland Clinic for all they have done for me.
